Networking

There will be RJ45 ethernet lines everywhere in the address. This is to assure that there are enough lines to serve the needs of the tenant. Most walls will have 3 ethernet lines, but where the TV is located, there will be 5 ethernet lines. All lines are Cat-8 which will support higher speeds, but the switches will be 1GB switches. In each address, there will be 1 Wifi Access Point per floor of the address. Most apartments, this is only 1 since everything is usually on the same floor.

In the home office of the address, there will be a communications closet. This closet will have all of the lines running to a patch panel, and from the patch panel to the switch. This was chosen to reduce the chance of tugging at the in wall lines. If anything needs to be modified, this can be done from the patch panel and the in wall lines are not messed with. There will also be a 15U server rack. The patch panel takes 1U, and the switch 1U. If internet is not included, the tenant must provide for either a router, or a network server. If internet is included, then there will be a network server plugged into the WAN for internet connectivity.
