The office space will be a valuable room for locating a desk for any home computer. Multiple smaller desks can also be used for multiple computer base stations. Because of the nature of the office, each wall will have 4 RJ45 jacks to allow for maximum flexibility. The office will also host the electric circuit panel, and communications closet. There will also be another closet with a safe for you to choose to use as he sees fit.
The communications closet will have a 10U server rack. 1U will be for the patch panel, and 1U will be for the network switch. Additional space is for any rack mount servers you wish to bring. An example might include a media server, or a networking server. All units will have a 1GBPS switch which will meet the needs of most consumer grade devices that will have an RJ45 port. This means it will be a waste of money for any internet connection beyond 1GBPS. The second closet will have a safe that would use a fingerprint reader to provide access.
It will be up to you to remove any confidential documents from the safe. Any documents still in the safe when you move out will be shredded, and properly disposed of. This will be made known to you before moving in, and it would also be your responsibility to provide for battery replacements for the safe. If you do not, you will have to contact maintenance, and this will be an extra house call which will charge you. The maintenance person will come with a key, and will unlock the safe in front of you.
